2017 Color of the Year: Green

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we are staying true to the theme of green. It’s the national color of Ireland and green is often a sign of good luck. From paint colors and accents to greenhouses and solar panels, there are many possibilities. As the most common color in the natural world, green signifies prosperity, growth, balance, and progress. There are so many wonderful reasons to “go green” and incorporate this soothing color. St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect excuse for talking all things green!

2017 Color of the Year

Every year, the Pantone Color Institute picks a color that represents what is going on within our culture globally. For 2017, they picked Greenery to represent this year of rejuvenation. This color represents nature’s neutral and provides a sense of playfulness with it’s hints of yellow. Greenery is the perfect color as we embark on the first day of spring next week. While this color is constantly in our peripheral vision, surrounding us with its vibrance, it’s time to bring it to the forefront.

Greenhouses

Greenhouses are the perfect way to indulge in delicious fruits and vegetables, grow beautiful plants of your choosing, and make memories with friends and family. Your mind and spirit will be refreshed and renewed as you take a little bit of time each day to tend to your plants and be quiet in nature. Sometimes we forget to just be still in the great outdoors. This is a great way to appreciate the beautiful creation around us. Greenhouses also make a wonderful escape during cold, dreary days. They provide warmth and color that will instantly lift your spirits.

Green Building (LEED)

Solar power is becoming more and more accessible. Directly from the Sun, this type of power is about as clean and pure as you can get. Solar panels in particular can save you thousands of dollars and make your home more valuable. Furthermore, the lifespan of solar panels is around 30 to 40 years, making it an even more appealing investment. Our state has already jumped on board with the solar industry. South Carolina recently launched a no cost solar program for middle-class families, making it one of the best states in the country to go solar.

Eccentric Interior Design

Even if “going green” is not in the cards for you, there are other ways to have fun incorporating the color itself. Life is too short to take things seriously. Green is a great choice for interior design because we are so accustomed to seeing it outside. Rest and relaxation are both benefits of using this color indoors. In addition, it has also been known to help relieve anxiety and depression. A home should be a reflection of the people who live there. There are no rules when it comes to the design of your interior. You can have as much fun as you want and make it exactly how you envisioned it.
