Just like Greenville, Asheville, North Carolina is a one of a kind place. With a thriving city and beautiful mountain views, this location is one of the most diverse and eclectic there is. Asheville was recently ranked number one on Lonely Planet’s Best in the U.S. list which comes as no surprise. With the magnificent Blue Ridge mountains, the French Broad River, Biltmore Estate, and the modern downtown area, there will always be plenty to explore in the city of Asheville.
The Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a national 469-mile highway that will take your breath away. With jaw-dropping views around every bend and countless places to stop at and explore, this is the place to be. If you can’t decide where to start, the Visitor Center is the perfect guide. In addition, a nice afternoon drive along the winding roads of the Blue Ridge mountains is always a nice option. If you’re looking for more adventure, many opt for kayaking along the French Broad river during the warmer months. If you want to get a bird’s eye view, this area is also home to Navitat, the region’s longest zip line.
The Biltmore House
One of Asheville’s most prized possessions is the Biltmore House. This estate was built in 1895 and has continued to be a magical place for years and years. Still in the hands of the Vanderbilt family, this magnificent home is rich in history and stories. Oh, if walls could talk! There is plenty to do on the Biltmore property for all ages. You can take a tour of the 250-room home, visit the Biltmore winery, and explore the gardens and Antler Hill Village. The Antler Hill Village area includes places to shop, eat, and interact with farm animals!
Last but not least, is downtown Asheville. This city has a unique vibe that is all its own. All walks of life are welcomed here and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Food, shopping, music, and night life are just a few things that Asheville is not short of. This quaint city tucked away in the Appalachians is the perfect getaway.
