The Italian villa taking shape in Mountain Park Village is going to be a world-class design hub for families building a home in The Cliffs. The impressive future home of Gabriel Builders, one of The Cliffs’ preferred builders, will soon be a quick and easy way for prospective club members to envision their own dream home, as well as life at The Cliffs. This welcoming villa will also serve as family home to the company’s owners, Gus and Belinda Rubio.
“We’re anticipating finishing by year’s end, or January,” says Belinda, who’s very much looking forward to living on the third floor of the villa. The Rubios’ carefully-chosen tenants,who will lease space on the first floor, are Signature Pools and Spas, and partners The Window Gal and Home Choice Windows and Doors. “The Window Gal is based in Greenville,” explains Rubio, “and Home Choice is from Knoxville. Both companies sell all kinds of well-known and respected products, including those by Marvin, Loewen and Jeldwen.”
The Gabriels’ three-story design center is a dazzling combination of rooms designed to simulate The Cliffs’ lifestyle, from lounge to kitchen to patio. “We have a long list of partners who will be showcasing their products on all three floors,” explains Belinda. Those companies include Sub-Zero / Wolf (The Cook’s Station); Kohler (Ferguson); Francois, with its limestone floors, mantles, hoods and pewter island top; Loewen for the windows/doors; Jordan Lumber, for the wood floors; Star Granite with the quartzite countertops; Clayton Tile for the villa’s elegant tile; and Kasted AV equipment in the media room.
The Rubios have also carefully designed their hub so that different options of the same type of product are being used in different sections of the building, another way to make the decision process easier for clients. Some lucky clients will get to enter the Rubios’ private domain on the top floor.
The buliding’s outdoor spaces look across the award-winning Mountain Park golf course toward The Cabin, an integral part of the member lifestyle at The Cliffs. “It just worked out that way,” says Belinda, with a smile.
The Rubios purchased their land before The Cliffs’ mountain region sales office moved into the Information Center next door, which added another layer of convenience to clients serious about building. “We don’t have a definite name for our building yet,” says Belinda, “but we’re calling it Gabriel Design Center for now.”
Gabriel Builders won the National Association of Home Builders “Home Builder of the Year’ award for 2015. This NAHB honor highlights the company’s commitment to quality, which is underscored by the many artisans who have been part of the Rubio team for many years.
The company also won their category in the 2015 Best of the Upstate contest, which is sponsored by The Greenville News each year, and in which readers vote for the winners.
Other businesses within Mountain Park Village include Pelham Medical Center (part of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Dr. Julian’s Dental Retreat at Mountain Park and The Cliffs Information Center, located in the former Gary Player Design Group building. (The Gary Player Group, which designed the Mountain Park course, has moved to nearby Greenville).
Mountain Park Village is adjacent to The Cliffs at Mountain Park, 25 miles north of Greenville, SC, and is central to all seven Cliffs clubs, including those at Lake Keowee and The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Asheville.
