Made Multigenerational: A Home for the Whole Family

Made Multigenerational: A Home for the Whole Family

A lot of our clients come to us not only to build a home, but to create a legacy for their families to enjoy for years to come. And one thing’s for sure, whether it’s at the lake or on a mountaintop, the Carolinas can’t be beat. The best part about building a custom home is the ability to make it exactly what you want. Our residential design team can design a multigenerational home that encompasses all of your wants and needs. Whether it’s a special feature for your furry friend, or a bunk room for the grandkids, the possibilities are endless!

A Case Study ✏️

Living multigenerational doesn’t have to be complicated. There are some great ways to give everyone the space they need without having to sacrifice anything. For example, the Keowee Springs Retreat home was designed with a big family in mind. On the top floor, you have the main living space with the kitchen, great room, outdoor living spaces, and master bedroom. On the bottom floor, there are 6 bedrooms with a living room and bar area – perfect for entertaining! Guests staying on the lower level are able to walk right out to the lake and a fire pit. This home was made for the whole family!

Let the Games Begin 🥇

Bunk rooms are a great feature to have when the kids or grandkids join in on the fun. They’ll love crawling into bed after a long day on the lake – especially when it’s a cool room like the one we built at the Cliffs Lakeside Retreat. In addition, having a rec room where they can play games and ward off any rainy days is always a good idea too. Over the years, we’ve seen several of our clients prioritize game rooms with everything from pool tables, shuffleboard tables, arcade games and bowling alleys. Theater rooms have also been a big hit. Having a state of the art AV system to watch your favorite movies will never disappoint and it’s fun for all ages!

Of course, we can’t forget about the grown-ups! Home bars and wine cellars are a great way to incorporate some unique designs. Outdoor living spaces also make great areas for entertaining and enjoying the beautiful views surrounding your home. Throw in a pool or a water feature and you have a nice place to relax after a long day and enjoy some peace and quiet. And, when you need to get a little bit of work done, a home office is always a nice getaway to check some things off of your to do list.

Seen in the images below is a handcrafted home currently under construction in The Landing at the Cliffs at Keowee Springs. Once completed, this home will become a Lake Keowee oasis for a three generations. With plenty of bedrooms for the whole family and amazing spaces for entertaining, this home will be a great getaway for everyone.

In the end, building a multigenerational home is an investment. It’s an investment in something that stands the test of time and creates a legacy and space for family and friends to build lasting memories and relationships. We aren’t just in the business of building beautiful custom homes for extended getaways or retirement; we’re in the business of family.
