Mike Quinn

Associate Landscape Designer

Mike joined the Gabriel Builders’ Landscape Design Team in 2022, but his love for design and drafting began many years before as a middle school student.  After growing up in Jupiter, Florida, Mike went to college at Western Carolina University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree with concentrations in Ceramics, Print Making, and Graphic Design. Not only did Mike’s love for fine arts and design increase, he found a new love when he met his wife Pamela at Penland School of Craft where they were both employed as work study students.

Following graduation, Mike began his 20-year career in commercial construction industry where his first construction job was the UNC Women’s and Children’s wing in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  How fitting that a few years later, his son was born on that same hospital wing!

In the office, you’ll find Mike using his varied experiences in the construction industry, from electrical to fire suppression to exterior cladding, to visualize extraordinary landscape plans and designs long before he ever starts pushing dirt and building walls. For Mike, the beauty of every project is in the details.

When he’s not collaborating with the Landscape Design team, you’ll find Mike exploring the back roads of Western North Carolina and getting reacquainted with his new hometown, Hendersonville.  He loves the arts and takes the opportunity to see plays, listen to live music,  and visit artist studios as often as he can, but also enjoys the hands-on relaxation of drawing and working with clay, wood, and metal in his spare time.

Some of Mike’s favorite quotes include:

Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always. -Robin Williams

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. -Serenity prayer

Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.
-William Morris (Father of the Arts and Crafts movement)
