I am in shock that Christmas is only a few days away. The month of December always seems to go by way too quickly. You may think I am crazy, but I love the busyness of this season. Don’t get me wrong, the mall and other shopping venues can be extremely frustrating. However, I love being in the midst of crowds of people buying gifts for their loved ones. I wish we had that outlook year-round!
The spirit of Christmas is such a beautiful thing. Focusing on others and being giving and generous are wonderful outcomes of this season. Even though giving and receiving presents, Santa Claus, and snow are not what Christmas is really about, I think it brings more hope and joy into the world. This world desperately needs more hope and joy.
You may be stressed with last minute shopping and preparing as we approach the big day. I encourage you to enjoy the season for what it is though. Remember all of the people that you love and hold dear. Cherish the innocence of children as they wake up excited on Christmas morning. Be thankful for all of the blessings that you have had throughout this year. But most of all, keep close to your heart the comfort of God sending His one and only Son to this earth to save us.
So while we wind down and begin to reunite and celebrate with friends and family, don’t forget the real reason why we celebrate. Christmas is a time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ and all that He sacrificed for us. This is a beautiful and important season.
